The turnover between athletic departments at Washington and Washington State continues.

ESPN reports the Huskies are finalizing a six-year deal to hire Pat Chun, the former athletic director for the Cougars, as their newest AD.

It comes after the sudden departure of former AD Troy Dannen last week when he left for Nebraska after just six months at UW.

Pat Chun led Washington State since 2018 and helped manage the school’s future after being left as one of two schools still in the Pac-12 conference.

He also worked at Ohio State for 15 years, which figures to be appealing for the Huskies as they begin their move to the Big Ten.

The Mariners are playing their last game of exhibition before Opening Day.

They’re facing the San Diego Padres for the second straight day on the heels of a 4-1 win.

The M’s are heading into the season with plenty of momentum, riding an 8-game unbeaten streak going into today’s game.

They’re 9-1-3 in their last 13 games.

The M’s will face Boston Red Sox to open the season on Thursday.

Bryan Woo will be inactive to start the season as Opening Day approaches for the Mariners.

The starting pitcher will be on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right elbow.

Seattle GM Justin Hollander says there is no structural damage and the hope is that the Woo will start to throw again in seven to 10 days.

Woo was slated as the fifth starting pitcher in the Mariners’ rotation, but will be replaced by top prospect Emerson Hancock in the meantime.

The Kraken are looking to put an end to their losing streak tonight.

They’re hosting the Anaheim Ducks in the second of a four-game homestand.

The Ducks enter the game having lost eight of their last nine games.

The Kraken will hope to cap their current skid at eight games.

Coverage begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KPUG.

The Gonzaga women are advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2015.

The fourth-seeded Zags beat fifth-seeded Utah 77-66 last night.

Kayleigh Truong and her sister Kaylynne combined for 35 points in the win.

Gonzaga now moves on to face top-seeded Texas on Friday.

Also moving forward in their playoff journey are the Washington State women.

They dominated Santa Clara 73-47 on Sunday to advance to the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament quarterfinals.

They’re taking on Toledo Friday with a chance to make the Final Four.
