The NHL has approved the sale and relocation of the Arizona Coyotes to Utah.
The change will take effect next season.
The team is being bought by Ryan and Ashley Smith, who also own the NBA’s Utah Jazz.
The Coyotes were established in 1972 as the Winnipeg Jets before moving to Phoenix in 1996.
The new team’s name has not been decided yet.
And the Western Washington University softball team is closing out the home portion of its regular season.
They’re hosting rival Central Washington at Viking Field tomorrow and Saturday in a pair of doubleheaders for Senior Weekend.
It won’t be the final home game for seniors though; the Viks are hosting the GNAC Softball Championships right here in Bellingham on May 2-4.
The 11th nationally ranked Vikings are riding a program record 17-game win streak.
They’re also just two wins away from reaching the school’s single-season record of 36 wins.
