The Mariners are off today after a successful weekend in Denver.

They beat the Rockies twice to get their second series win of the season.

Seattle won the opener on Saturday 7-0 thanks to seven shutout innings from Luis Castillo.

Cal Raleigh homered and Julio Rodriguez went 4-5 from the plate in the win.

The M’s split Sunday’s doubleheader after Friday’s game was postponed due to weather.

The Rockies won the afternoon game in extras, but the Mariners’ bats returned to form in the evening match, scoring the most runs they have all season in a 10-2 blowout win.

Seattle will look to take control of first place in the AL West against the division-leading Texas Rangers tomorrow afternoon.

Coverage begins at 4:00 and first pitch is at 5:05 on KPUG.

The status of coach Dave Hakstol’s future with the Kraken is in limbo after an underwhelming season.

Kraken general manager Ron Francis said today that evaluations are “still ongoing” about whether there will be changes with Hakstol or any of the coaching staff.

The Kraken finished with 100 points last regular season before advancing one game short of making the Western Conference finals.

They reached only 81 points this season and were eliminated from playoff contention in the first week of April.

Hakstol was a finalist for coach of the year last season and received a two-year contract extension after their playoff run.

The Denver Broncos are still trying to find a successor for Russell Wilson after his messy exit.

The Broncos sent a sixth-round pick in this year’s draft to the New York Jets in exchange for former number two overall pick Zach Wilson.

The Broncos also received a seventh-round pick in today’s trade.

Wilson had an 11-21 record as a starter in New York and threw more interceptions than touchdown passes.

He’ll look to compete with veteran Jarrett Stidham and former Seattle Sea Dragons XFL quarterback Ben DiNucci for the starting job in Denver.

And WWU’s softball team is wrapping the regular season up with a chance at more history on the line.

The 11th nationally ranked Vikings split their series against Central Washington over the weekend.

They also matched the program record for single-season wins with 36 after Saturday’s win.

Western lost the opening game of the series to snap their program-record 17 game win streak.

They rebounded to mercy-rule Central the next game with an 8-0 win that clinched them a spot in the GNAC postseason tournament.

The teams also split Saturday’s doubleheader on Senior Day.

The Vikings will play their final series of the regular season against Western Oregon this weekend before hosting the GNAC Championships at Viking Field.
