The Kraken have been eliminated from the NHL playoff race.

They lost to the LA Kings 5-2 last night in what was a must-win game for their postseason hopes.

Trevor Moore got his second career hat trick and the Kings scored the first three goals of the game.

Andre Burakovsky and Brian Dumoulin scored the only goals of the game for Seattle.

They now fall to 31-31-13 as the sixth team to be eliminated from playoff contention.

The Kraken are back tomorrow night against the Anaheim Ducks.

 

The Mariners are off today before beginning their first road series against the Brewers tomorrow.

Seattle owns a 3-4 record after the opening week of games.

That’s good for third in the American League West Division behind the 4-2 Rangers and Angels.

First baseman Ty France is leading the M’s with 8 hits, while Cal Raleigh has the most runs scored with four.

Josh Rojas has been a nice surprise at third base with five hits over 12 at-bats to lead the team in batting average.

A Washington native just had a record-breaking performance in the NBA.

Former Tacoma and Washington State basketball star Malachi Flynn scored 50 points for the Detroit Pistons in their loss to the Atlanta Hawks last night.

It’s just the third game in NBA history where a player scored 50 points off the bench and the most by any Pistons reserve ever.

Flynn shattered his previous career high of 27 points.

 

The Western Washington University softball team is in for a big series this weekend.

The Vikings are riding a nine-game win streak to Canada, where they’ll face Simon Fraser in a four-game series.

The No. 12 nationally ranked Viks are coming off a four-game sweep over Saint Martin’s last weekend at Viking Field.

They’ve already matched their win total from last season, sitting at 26-4 this season compared to their final record of 26-23 last year.

They’re looking to break their program record of 36 wins set back in 2011.
