The Mariners fell to the Twins this afternoon for their first series loss in nearly a month.

Minnesota scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back in their 11-1 blowout over Seattle.

Logan Gilbert gave up eight runs in four innings to suffer his first loss of the season.

The M’s didn’t have much success at the plate either, managing just six hits and two walks with 15 strikeouts.

They now sit a game and a half back from the Rangers after giving up their lead in the AL West.

They’ll look to rebound tomorrow as they head back home for the start of their weekend series against the Athletics with Bryan Woo making his season debut.

Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.

The M’s made a flurry of roster moves ahead of Woo’s anticipated return to the mound.

They sent Emerson Hancock down to Triple-A Tacoma after the 24-year-old went 3-3 with a 5.24 ERA in seven starts this season filling in for Woo.

Woo is returning after dealing with elbow inflammation to start the season.

He threw 11 and one-third scoreless innings with 17 strikeouts and no walks over three rehab starts in Tacoma.

Meanwhile, relief pitcher Tayler Saucedo was put on the 15-day injured list after hurting his knee in Tuesday’s game against the Twins.

The M’s transferred fellow reliever Matt Brash to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster.

The Seahawks’ opponents for the upcoming season have been released.

NFL Research ranks them as having the ninth-easiest schedule based on their opponent’s records last season.

Notable home matchups outside their division include the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

The Seahawks will be on the road to face the Detroit Lions and the Atlanta Falcons, home of former UW Huskies star quarterback Michael Penix.

The full schedule with the order of the games will be released this Wednesday.

Western Washington University’s softball team started off the regional tournament in thrilling fashion this morning.

The top-seeded Vikings edged out eighth-seeded Azusa Pacific 1-0 thanks to a walk-off double by junior Kanilehua Pitoy.

The game was knotted at 0 for nearly the entire game at Viking Field before Pitoy drove in the game-winning run with two strikes and two outs.

Freshman Alli Kimball delivered a complete-game shutout with only four hits allowed for her 18th win of the season.

The Vikings will play Cal St. San Marcos tomorrow at 10 a.m. for a chance to advance to the Super Regional round.
