The Vikings won the Varsity Eight Grand Final on Saturday to claim its ninth national title in program history.

The team edged out the reigning national champs Mercyhurst by a single point in the final standings.

It’s the university’s first national championship since the women’s soccer team won in 2022.

 

And the Bells won a thrilling opening series at Joe Martin Field over the weekend that featured not one, but two walk off wins.

The Bells rang in the new season with a 5-4 win over the Edmonton Riverhawks on Friday.

Their 3-run rally in the bottom of the ninth was capped off by a 2-run single by Jason Shedlock.

The Bells fell in a tight 3-2 loss on Saturday, but rebounded in an offensive clinic to close the series on Sunday.

They edged the Riverhawks out 14-13 in a game that was delayed in the fourth inning due to heavy rain.

The Bells entered the ninth inning down 13-10, but Jorge Olivera hit a walk-off single to complete a 4-run rally to give Bellingham the series win.

The Bells are back in action across the border tomorrow for the start of a three-game series against the Kamloops Northpaws.
