The Mariners have the day off today before embarking on a road trip out East.

The struggling M’s have dropped eight of their last nine games, including six straight losses to the Angels.

They haven’t won a series at home since June 16.

Seattle also has two key starters on the 10-day injured list in Julio Rodriguez and J.P. Crawford.

Despite that, they still sit just one game behind the Astros for first place in the AL West.

Victor Robles has been a bright spot amid their skid, collecting 11 hits over their last eight games while sliding into the team’s number two spot in the batting order.

The M’s will have a big opportunity to bounce back this weekend in their series against the league-worst Chicago White Sox.

The Sox have lost their last 11 games and are on pace to finish with the worst record in major league history.

George Kirby will look to start the Mariners’ road trip off right tomorrow.

Coverage begins at 4:00 and first pitch is at 5:10 on KPUG.

The Seahawks are extending one of their key defensive players.

The team agreed to a three-year contract extension with Pro-Bowl safety Julian Love that’s worth up to $36 million.

The 26-year-old Love played all 17 games last season while leading the team with four interceptions and making the first Pro Bowl of his career.

It comes after the Seahawks released fellow safeties Jamal Adams and Quadre Diggs in March before signing Rayshawn Jenkins to start alongside Love.

The Green Bay Packers have signed former UW Huskies quarterback Jacob Eason.

He joins the team as their third signal-caller in the absence of starter Jordan Love amid ongoing contract negotiations.

The 26-year-old Lake Stevens native has appeared in two career NFL games with Indianapolis and Carolina.

He’s also been a member of the Seahawks among other teams.

Eason threw for over 3,000 yards and 23 TD’s as a junior with the Huskies in 2019.

The 2024 Paris Olympics are set to officially begin tomorrow.

Tomorrow morning’s opening ceremony will be the first to be held outside of a stadium as athletes will parade in boats down the Seine river.

It starts at 10:30 a.m. here on the West Coast.

Still, the Games technically kicked off yesterday with a number of soccer and rugby matches.

The US women’s soccer team got a 3-0 win over Zambia today in the first game of group stage play.

The Bellingham Bells topped the Kelowna Falcons 10-4 yesterday to clinch a key series in the West Coast League playoff race.

The Bells were outhit 12 to 5, but put their plate discipline on display by gathering 13 walks to take the dominant win.

Recent Lynden grad and future UW Husky Lane Simonsen aided the winning effort with one inning of shutout ball.

The Bells now sit just one game behind Wenatchee for first place in the North Division.

They’ll look to keep up the pressure and sweep Kelowna in the final game of their series tonight.

After that, they’ll go on a six-game road trip and won’t be back home until August 2, for their final regular season series in Bellingham.

First pitch for tonight’s game is at 6:35 from Joe Martin Field.
