The Mariners had an active past 24 hours ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.

The M’s landed a big bat last night by trading for Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena.

The former Rookie of the Year was an All-Star last year, and is best remembered for his red-hot run through the 2020 postseason where he won ALCS MVP.

Arozarena is batting just .211 this season, but his 15 home runs are the second most of any Mariner.

He’s on pace for his fourth-straight 20 homer season.

Seattle sent their No. 12 and 22 ranked prospects to Tampa Bay in the trade according to MLB Pipeline, as well as a player to be named.

And the M’s kept dealing into today, trading for right-handed reliever Yimi Garcia from Toronto.

Garcia is 3-0 on the season with a 2.70 ERA and is one of the top relievers thought to be available at the deadline.

In exchange for him, Seattle traded No. 10 prospect outfielder Jonatan Clase and catcher prospect Jacob Sharp.

It comes as the Mariners begin a six-game road trip out East today with their series opener against the league-worst Chicago White Sox.

Coverage begins at 4:00 and first pitch is at 5:10 on KPUG.

Snoop Dog, LeBron James, Lady Gaga and Celine Dion were all in Paris today for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games.

Today’s ceremony was the first to be held outside of a stadium as athletes paraded in boats down the Seine river.

Paris organizers said 6,800 of the 10,500 athletes were in attendance before they embark on the next 16 days of competition.

The rain-filled event was capped off by the lighting of the hot-air balloon Olympic cauldron.

There are no events today before the Games swing into full action tomorrow.

You can hear regular updates throughout each day of the Olympics on KPUG.

The Seahawks are in talks to land much-needed reinforcement to their offensive line.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the team is negotiating a deal with former Miami and Dallas offensive lineman Connor Williams.

He was a second-round pick in 2018 who started nine games for the Dolphins last season before tearing his ACL.

Head coach Mike Macdonald says Williams would play center if they were to sign him, filling one of the Seahawks’ two remaining holes on their o-line.

Still, Schefter says the six-year NFL veteran is also in talks with other teams.

The Bellingham Bells used a walk-off grand slam to beat the Kelowna Falcons 6-4 last night.

The Falcons scored two early runs but the Bells fought back to tie the game 2-2 heading into the ninth inning.

Kelowna hit a 2-run double to take the lead and the Bells looked to be in trouble with two outs and no one on in the bottom of the ninth down two runs.

But they loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a single, setting All-Star shortstop Roman Martin up for a dramatic grand slam to help the Bells complete their sweep of the Falcons.

It was their sixth walk-off win of the season at Joe Martin Field.

The Bells still remain just one game behind Wenatchee for first place in the North Division.

They’re in Nanaimo tonight for the first of a three-game series against the NightOwls, who sit just one game behind them in the division standings.
