The Bellingham Bells had their season come to an end last night.

They fell to the Wenatchee AppleSox 1-0 in the North Division Championship.

The AppleSox scored the lone run of the game on an RBI double in the third inning.

Bellingham had their best chance to tie it when they loaded the bases in the seventh, but couldn’t drive any of their runners in.

The Bells managed just four hits against a strong pitching performance from Wenatchee.

It’s the second straight year they’ve finished as North Division runner-ups.

It caps off an unforgettable season that saw six walk-off wins at home, a first-round series win over Edmonton and the return of the All-Star Game at Joe Martin Field.

Meanwhile, the AppleSox will move on to face the Portland Pickles in the West Coast League championship tomorrow night.

It comes after the Pickles beat the Corvallis Knights 4-1 to end the Knights’ seven-year championship reign over the league.

The Mariners’ recent woes continued this afternoon in their 2-1 loss to the Tigers.

The Mariners scored early in the first inning and carried that 1-0 lead all the way to the eighth, when Javier Baez hit a 2-run homer to put the Tigers on top.

Bryce Miller was lights-out on the mound, throwing seven scoreless innings of two-hit ball, but the M’s bats couldn’t back him up as they managed just a single hit.

Today’s game closely mirrored yesterday’s loss, where Seattle took a 2-0 lead into the eight, until Detroit tied it up and later won with a walk-off double in the 10th.

To make matters worse, Julio Rodriguez left yesterday’s game after aggravating his left ankle while ducking away from an inside pitch.

M’s skipper Scott Servais says Julio didn’t do any additional damage to the ankle he sprained in July and doesn’t think it’s anything serious.

The Mariners have now fallen three games behind the Astros, who are winners of eight straight games.

Seattle will look to rebound tomorrow against the Pittsburgh Pirates in a face-off between All-Star pitchers Logan Gilbert and Paul Skenes.

Coverage begins at 2:30 and first pitch is at 3:40 on KPUG.

The Seahawks are back with some former key defenders in Nashville this week.

Seattle has been running joint practices with the Tennessee Titans ahead of their preseason game this Saturday.

It’s a bit of a reunion with safeties Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs, who were both released by the Seahawks earlier this year before teaming up on the Titans.

ESPN’s Brady Henderson reports that the Seahawks’ pass-rush has been a highlight of the practices, racking up several would-be sacks.

The Seahawks only have two more preseason games ahead of their regular season opener at home for the Denver Broncos on Sept. 8.
