The Mariners are looking to get some much-needed momentum in tonight’s series opener against the Dodgers.

The M’s fell 5-3 and 7-2 in the first two games before regrouping for a dominant 10-3 win yesterday.

Cal Raleigh, Josh Rojas and Dominic Canzone all homered for the M’s to back up George Kirby’s rock-solid start to snap Seattle’s five game skid.

The Mariners still sit four games behind the red-hot Astros for first place in the AL West.

Houston has the best record in the majors over their past ten games.

The M’s face a tough challenge tonight as they start their series against the NL West-leading Dodgers with Bryan Woo on the mound in LA.

The Seahawks lost a close one in their second preseason game over the weekend.

Tennessee’s rookie kicker hit a game-winning field goal as time ran out to give the Titans a 16-15 victory on Saturday.

Seattle held a 12-7 lead going into the fourth quarter, but couldn’t hold on after giving up three field goals in the fourth.

Backup quarterback Sam Howell impressed once again, leading a touchdown drive in the first quarter while completing 11 of 14 passes for 153 yards.

But the Seahawks’ defense struggled and gave up 338 total yards as the Titans escaped with the win.

The Seahawks now sit at 1-1 in preseason play ahead of their final match against the Cleveland Browns this Saturday at 7 p.m.

 

Meanwhile, Russell Wilson had a quiet preseason debut with the Steelers on Saturday.

The former Seahawk completed 8 of 10 passes for 47 yards and got sacked three times in Pittsburgh’s 9-3 loss to Buffalo.

Justin Fields, his competitor for the starting job, fared slightly better, finishing 11 for 17 with 93 passing yards, including a team-high 42 rushing yards.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is still indicating that Russ will be QB1 come opening week.

 

The Sounders lost to LAFC 3-0 in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals on Saturday.

LAFC will now move on to the Final Four of the midseason tournament that pits the MLS against teams from the Mexican league Liga MX.

The Sounder will be off until the MLS season resumes this Saturday, when they’ll face Minnesota United FC.

 

The Seattle Storm are back from the WNBA’s extended break.

They fell to the Indiana Fever 92-75 yesterday after a massive 4th-quarter collapse.

Seattle trailed by a single point entering the fourth before Indiana outscored them 33-17 to end the game.

Rookie phenom Caitlin Clark had nine assists for the Fever on her way to setting a new league record for most assists in a rookie season with 232 so far.

Olympian Jewell Loyd had 26 points to lead the Storm in scoring

They’ll be in Washington D.C. tomorrow night for a match against the league-worst Mystics.

The Portland Pickles beat the Wenatchee AppleSox 6-5 on Friday to secure their first-ever WCL championship.

It came in dramatic fashion, with a walk-off single to deliver the win in front of their home crowd at Walker Stadium.
