The Scott Servais era is over in Seattle.

The Mariners announced today that they fired Servais today after nine seasons as manager of the team.

They’re replacing him with former catcher and Mariners Hall of Famer Dan Wilson, who served as a special assignment coordinator for the club in spring training.

It comes after the Mariners went 1-8 on its most recent road trip and has slipped five games behind Houston for first place in the AL West, despite holding a ten-game lead in the division earlier this season.

Servais went 680-642 during his time in Seattle, with the club’s lone playoff appearance coming in 2022.

Wilson will take over on an interim basis until the team can find a permanent manager.

The Mariners have the day off after ending their abysmal road trip in a sweep to the Dodgers.

Logan Gilbert had an unusually rough outing and Seattle fell 8-4 in LA last night.

The M’s All-Star starter gave up eight runs through four and two-thirds innings, though only six of them were earned.

Former Mariner Teoscar Hernandez led a high-octane attack for the Dodgers’ bats, notching two runs and two hits with one RBI.

Mitch Haniger hammered a pinch-hit solo homer and Dominic Canzone had two RBIs, but it wasn’t enough in the game that likely finalized Scott Servais’ tenure in Seattle.

The Mariners now sit at 64-64 and have dropped to five games behind the first-place Houston Astros in the AL West.

They’ll look to recollect themselves back home in a weekend series against the San Francisco Giants.

Coverage begins at 6:00 tomorrow and first pitch is at 7:10 on KPUG.

The Seahawks have traded Michael Jackson for another potential hit-maker.

Seattle traded the veteran cornerback to the Carolina Panthers yesterday in exchange for rookie linebacker Michael Barrett.

The 27-year-old Jackson started just four games for Seattle last season after playing all 17 in 2022.

Barret, a seventh-round pick out of Michigan, will look to bring depth to a new-look Seahawks linebacker group after departures from Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks over the offseason.

He’ll reunite with head coach Mike Macdonald after Macdonald coached him as Michigan’s defensive coordinator in 2021.

The Washington State Cougars have named their starting quarterback for this season.

Head coach Jake Dickert announced earlier this week that redshirt sophomore John Mateer will call the signals for the Cougs this year.

Mateer backed up Cam Ward for the past two seasons before Ward transferred to Miami in January.

Wazzu opens the 2024 college football season at home for Portland State on Saturday, Aug. 31.

They have a date with the Huskies in Seattle on Sept. 14 for the new-look Apple Cup.

The Bellingham Bells’ season may be over, but their players are still getting recognized for their stellar season.

The Bells had nine players named to the All-West Coast League teams that were announced yesterday.

Relief pitcher Nick Lewis was awarded All-WCL First Team honors.

Third-baseman Nate Kirkpatrick, starting pitcher Josh Flaugher, and relievers Devyn Hernandez and Nic Peterson were named to the second team.

Anthony Kodama, Roman Martin, Ryan Heppner and Jacob Mejia all got honorable mentions.
