The Mariners are back tonight for their first game without Scott Servais.

The team announced yesterday that former catcher and Mariners Hall of Famer Dan Wilson will take over as manager without an interim tag.

Hitting coach Jarret DeHart was replaced by M’s legend Edgar Martinez.

Martinez and Wilson will look to reinvigorate a lineup that ranks last in the league in batting average with the most strikeouts of any team.

The Mariners are on the heels of a 1-8 road trip that saw them fall to five and a half games back from Houston for the lead in the AL West.

They’re now returning home to face a San Francisco Giants team that is in the middle of a playoff race of its own, sitting four games back from a wild card spot in the National League.

Luis Castillo is on the mound for the M’s tonight as they look to kick off their homestand with a win.

Coverage begins at 6:00 and first pitch is at 7:10 on KPUG.

The Seahawks are onto their final preseason game this weekend.

They’re hosting the Cleveland Browns tomorrow night in a game that head coach Mike Macdonald says most of their starters will play in, including starting quarterback Geno Smith.

The Seahawks have gone 1-1 in preseason play so far, with a win over the Chargers and a loss to the Titans.

Coverage for tomorrow night’s game begins at 5:00 and kickoff is at 7 on KPUG.

The Seahawks made another trade yesterday, sending fifth-year linebacker Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

Taylor, the team’s second-round pick in 2020, sat out his rookie season in Seattle after undergoing offseason surgery for a leg fracture.

He played all 17 games for the Seahawks last season and started in five, totaling 5.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss and eight quarterback hits.

Russell Wilson will get the start for Pittsburgh tomorrow in their final preseason game.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says there’s been “no change” to the depth chart at quarterback, where Wilson has been listed ahead of Justin Fields since training camp began.

Neither Wilson nor Fields has led a touchdown drive so far in the preseason, though the former Seahawks QB has been limited due to a calf injury he suffered at the beginning of camp.

The Sounders are back in regular season play this weekend.

They’re on the road facing Minnesota United FC tomorrow in the MLS’s return following the midseason Leagues Cup tournament.

The Sounders sit at seventh place in the Western Conference after a midseason resurgence lifted them up from the bottom of the standings.

They return having won six of their last seven regular season games.

Tomorrow’s match starts at 3:45 p.m.

Western Washington University’s cross country teams are looking to pick up right where they left off this season.

The men’s and women’s teams were each picked to repeat as GNAC champions in the conference’s preseason coaches poll.

Both teams are looking to win their third straight cross country titles ahead of their season opener on Sept. 14.

It comes after the Vikings became the first school in conference history to win the six combined cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field team titles during the 2023-24 season.
