The Mariners are headed into tonight’s series-opener against the Mets with extra momentum.

Mitch Haniger played hero for the M’s last night with a walk off double to give them a 4-3 win over the Tigers.

It was Haniger’s eight career walk-off with the Mariners, which is the most in franchise history.

Seattle’s offense sputtered up until the ninth, trailing 3-1 for most of the game.

But Luke Raley and Randy Arozarena each singled and Jorge Polanco drew a walk to set up Mitch Hanigers’s walk-off to avoid the series sweep.

It comes as outfielder Dominic Canzone is back off the injured list after missing the past month with a right adductor strain.

The M’s are currently tied with Houston for first place in the AL West and are looking to get some distance in this weekend’s series against the New York Mets.

Bryce Miller is on the mound for tonight’s series-opener at T-Mobile.

Coverage begins at 6:00 and first pitch is at 7:10 on KPUG.

The Seahawks are gearing up for their first preseason game of the year.

The Hawks will be in Los Angeles tomorrow to face the Chargers.

It will be a matchup of first-year head coaches in Mike Macdonald and Jim Harbaugh, who recently coached together at the University of Michigan.

Macdonald says Geno Smith will not be active for tomorrow’s game, but we will get a first look at first round pick Byron Murphy II.

Coverage begins at 2:00 and kickoff is at 4 tomorrow afternoon on KGMI.

The Sounders are moving on in the Leagues Cup.

They beat the LA Galaxy 3-1 yesterday in the Round of 32 match at Lumen Field.

Seattle scored all of its goals in the first half to advance to the Round of 16.

There, they’ll face Liga MX’s Pumas UNAM on Monday for a chance to go to the quarterfinals.

A Bellingham-native made Olympic history for the United States this morning.

Sehome High School alum Jonas Ecker and his teammate Aaron Small finished fourth in today’s kayak double 500-meter semifinal.

That qualified them for the final race later in the morning, where they finished eighth.

Despite not coming away with a medal, the duo became the first U.S. kayakers to qualify for an Olympic final in 24 years.

And it’s playoff time for the Bellingham Bells.

The Bells are traveling to Edmonton to face the Riverhawks tomorrow in Game One of the West Coast League North Divisional Playoffs.

They’ll return to Bellingham on Sunday for Game Two at 6:35 p.m.

The deciding Game Three will be played at Joe Martin Field, if necessary.

The two teams finished with an identical 32-22 record during the regular season, but the Bells bested the Riverhawks 4 games to 2 during the regular season.

Tomorrow’s game in Edmonton starts at 6:05 and can be streamed on the West Coast League streaming network.

The Bells are also hosting a watch party at Zeeks Pizza.
