The Mariners are back against the A’s tonight as they look to put an end to their string of heart-breaking losses.

The Mariners never trailed in last night’s game until Seth Brown hit a walk-off single to give the Athletics their second straight win over Seattle.

Luis Castillo gave a strong performance on the mound with seven innings of two-run ball, but the Mariners managed just five hits in the loss.

It was the third walk-off loss for the Mariners in the past four days as they now fall to six and a half games behind Houston in the AL West.

They’ll look to end their four-game losing streak tonight against Oakland with George Kirby on the mound.

Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.

The Huskies have made the Top 25 rankings, at least in one major poll.

The AFCA Coach’s Poll listed the University of Washington 25th in the nation in their latest rankings.

Meanwhile, the Huskies received the 33rd-most votes in the AP Top 25 poll.

They’re coming off a 35-3 statement win over Weber State in Jedd Fisch’s debut with the team.

The Seattle Storm beat the Connecticut Sun 71-64 last night.

Seattle still sits four games back from Minnesota for first place in the Western Conference.

They’ll look to help trim that deficit in New York tomorrow night against the league-leading Liberty.

The high school football season is kicking off this Friday and there’s a few changes to note in this year’s Northwest Conference.

Marysville-Pilchuck has moved from Wesco 3A down to NWC 2A, where they’ll compete with Lynden, Sehome and other 2A Whatcom County schools.

Sedro-Woolley was promoted from NWC 2A to Wesco 3A, where they’ll compete against Ferndale and others.

Meanwhile, the Bellingham Bayhawks are making their return to conference play in the Northwest after sitting out the last four years due to a previous lack of players.

And perhaps the most important change is the newly-expanded playoff format.

Class 2A is now adopting the 3A and 4A schedule, where there’s a state-wide Round of 32 play-in bracket in Week 10 of the season.

The 16 survivors will then be reseeded for the state tournament.
