BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Thousands of protestors took to the streets of Bellingham as part of a national day of protest over the weekend.
Hands Off! demonstrations were held in scores of cities across the U.S., including Bellingham and Mount Vernon, on Saturday, April 5.
The protests were organized by over 150 groups, including civil rights organizations, labor unions, LBGTQ+ advocates, veterans and elections activists.
Demonstrators voiced anger over the Trump administration’s moves to fire thousands of federal workers, close Social Security offices, deport immigrants and cut funding for health programs.
Over 1,200 protests were held on Saturday in all 50 states from Alaska to Maine.
All of them were reported to be peaceful, with no arrests made at any of the weekend’s demonstrations.
