SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Three people were killed in as many days in separate motorcycle accidents across Whatcom and Skagit Counties.
The Washington State Patrol says that the first crash occurred on Friday night, June 21 on Highway 20 near Best Road.
A speeding motorcycle slammed into the back of a car, sending the rider into the median.
Crews pronounced the rider, 23-year-old William Foulds of Anacortes, dead at the scene.
Just before noon on Saturday, another motorcyclist had a medical episode and crashed his bike into a ditch on Chuckanut Drive.
The rider, 71-year-old retired Whatcom Sheriff’s Deputy Stuart Smith of Ferndale, was taken to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center, where he later passed away.
WSP also reports that on Sunday afternoon, June 23 a woman attempting to make a left turn from State Route 11 onto Sunset Road in Bow struck a motorcycle.
Medics pronounced the rider, 57-year-old Freddy Blondel of Maple Ridge B.C., dead at the scene.
Charges against the 70-year-old driver from Bow are pending as that accident remains under investigation.
