ARLINGTON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A woman, who was one of two Lynden residents who were hospitalized following a fatal crash near Arlington, has died.

The Washington State Patrol says in a news release on Saturday, Apr. 13, that 70-year-old Sharon Heeringa passed away at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

She was a passenger in a car driven by a Lynden man that was hit by a wrong-way driver on northbound I-5 on Monday, Apr. 1.

The wrong-way car collided with a second vehicle and rolled on the freeway while the other two cars left the road.

The wrong-way driver, identified as a 43-year-old Arlington man, died from his injuries at Providence Medical Center.

Three other people were hospitalized, including the 71-year-old driver from Lynden.

WSP is still investigating the crash.
