BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The young victim of a recent shooting in Bellingham has succumbed to his injuries.
Whatcom County Medical Examiner Dr. Aldo Fusaro says that 18-year-old Alejandro Pallares passed away on Sunday, May 25.
Pallares was shot in the head on May 18 after he and another 18-year-old man were reportedly playing with the laser light on a gun. While on the phone with first responders, the suspect said that he didn’t know the gun was loaded and that he had messed up.
The suspect was arrested following the shooting and remains at the Whatcom County Jail on $1 million bail.
It’s unclear if his charges will be updated, but court documents state he is due to be arraigned on Friday, May 30.
According to a GoFundMe set up by his family, Pallares was a football player and had been expected to graduate Ferndale High School next week.
