LONGWOOD, FL (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Click HERE to watch the final semi-final game for the WWU Vikings, as they battle the UIndy Greyhounds in Longwood, FL in the NCAA DII World Series.
Western Washington University’s softball team is one win away from making the World Series Final. The sixth-seeded Vikings staved off elimination once again with a 2-1 win in 12 innings against fourth-seeded UIndy this afternoon.
Western’s freshmen pitching duo of Alli Kimball and Kaiana Kong didn’t allow a single earned run across the game in the pitcher’s duel. They were facing UIndy’s star pitcher Kenzee Smith, who was honored as a First-Team All-American selection after her 39-4 season.
In game one, the Vikings’ offense scored in the first inning but fell silent until the top of the 12th, when a single by Taylor Khorrami scored Isabella Bay for the winning run. Kong went on to get out of a bases-loaded jam to extend the Vikings’ playoff run.
That win set up a rematch with UIndy in a win-or-go-home game that will send the winner to the national championship series.
First pitch was at 3:30 P.M. and is being streamed for free here.
