WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A heat advisory has been issued for northwest Washington, including Whatcom and Skagit counties.
The National Weather Service in Seattle (NWS) says the advisory will remain in effect until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
High temperatures could reach the mid 90s, posing a moderate risk of heat-related illnesses.
Monday is the forecast to be the hottest day along the outer coast and the heat will peak on Tuesday for inland areas away from the coast.
Forecasters are advising anyone who works or spends time outside to take frequent breaks in the shade or air-conditioned environments. NWS says to reschedule any strenuous activities to the early morning or evening when possible.
Cooler temperatures are in the forecast for later this week, with rain in the mix as well on Friday into Saturday, Aug. 16.
Make sure to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors if needed.
