WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Strong winds in Whatcom County will continue into the weekend following the previous bomb cyclone that blew through the region.

The National Weather Service in Seattle (NWS) has extended a wind advisory that’s now in effect until 4 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.

Southeast winds are expected to reach up to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

It follows a previous wind advisory that lasted into Friday morning for easterly winds, but forecasters say they are now south facing.

NWS warns that the winds could blow down tree limbs and cause a few power outages.

Forecasters say low-impact weather is expected to last from Saturday into next week, though the system is not expected to be as strong as Tuesday night’s storm.

Bellingham could see up to a .5″ of rain through the weekend, with Lynden expected to see up to  1″.
