BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A welfare check on an unresponsive man near the Guide Meridian ended in an arrest.

Bellingham Police spokesperson Megan Peters says that fire crews were called after the man was found lying in the bushes near Best Buy on Saturday, the evening of July 13. The man woke up and immediately began acting aggressively towards the crewmembers. He pulled a glass bottle out of his pants and threw it at his feet before threatening to pull out a gun.

Officers arrived shortly afterwards and were able to get the man into custody.

A search of the man didn’t produce a gun, but officers recovered a shirt that the man had stolen with the tags still on it.
