BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom Community College (WCC) has narrowed the search for its newest president down to three candidates.
WCC’s Board of Trustees announced the finalists will be coming to campus for a series of public forums on Jan. 13, 14 and 16. At the public forums, the candidates share their views on current issues and challenges, along with their vision for the future of the school.
The first candidate scheduled to speak, Dr. Pakou Yang, is currently the provost at Century College in Minnesota. The next candidate is Dr. Mark Curtis-Chavez, who serves as the provost at College of DuPage in Illinois.
The forums wrap up with a more familiar face in Dr. Justin Guillory, who previously served as the president of Northwest Indian College for 12 years before he was replaced in October.
The chosen candidate will replace WCC’s current President Dr. Kathi Hiyane-Brown after she retires on March 2, 2025 following 18 years with the school.
