WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A baby formula is being recalled over a botulism outbreak in several states, including one case in Washington.
Whatcom County Health and Community Services says ByHeart has issued a voluntary recall for its Whole Nutrition Infant Formula products.
KGMI previously reported that ByHeart initially agreed to recall two lots of its formula, but the recall now applies for all batches of its formula cans and single-serve “anywhere sticks.”
The outbreak has been linked to at least 15 cases across 12 states since August, including one infant from Lewis County.
Infant botulism can be fatal and several infants who were sickened remain hospitalized, though no deaths have been reported yet.
Anyone who bought the recalled formula should throw it away or return it to where they bought it from, while sanitizing any items or surfaces it may have come into contact with.
Those whose infants are experiencing symptoms and have consumed the product should go to the emergency room immediately.
