WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Whatcom County ambulance crew reports that their vehicle was hit by a bullet while they were transporting a patient on the Mount Baker Highway east of Deming on Sunday evening.
Whatcom Fire District 14 says in a social media post that the crew was transporting a patient with chest pains at about 9:30 p.m. when something hit the windshield with a loud bang. They examined the ambulance at the fire station after finishing the transport and decided it looked like the vehicle was hit by a bullet.

Law enforcement also examined the damage and concluded the bullet was fired from a rifle and ricocheted off of the windshield and into the sheet metal of the vehicle.
Nobody was injured, but the district says it’s a good reminder to use care and common sense when shooting any firearm as stray bullets have caused injury and death in past years in Whatcom County.
