BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Several Whatcom County breweries cleaned up at a statewide beer tasting competition.
The Washington Beer Commission and the Washington Brewers Guild recently announced the winners of their 11th annual Washington Beer Awards on Monday, Nov. 4.
Over 1,200 beers were entered in the competition by 170 breweries and were blind tasted across a wide range of categories by a panel of trained “beer judges.”
Larrabee Lager Company took home the award for Small Brewery of the Year.
The brewery, which opened last year on Meridian Street in Bellingham, also won three more awards for its German-style beers.
Kulshan Brewing won seven awards, including four gold medals, while Birch Bay’s Beach Cat Brewing nabbed three selections.
Wander Brewing, Stemma Brewing and Boundary Bay Brewery, all in located in Bellingham, and FrinGe Brewing in Ferndale, also each earned recognition to solidify the county’s deep stable of beer-drinking options.
