WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A proactive burn ban in Whatcom County will take effect in the coming months.
The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office says all yard debris burning and land clearing burns will be prohibited in unincorporated parts of the county starting on June 15. Recreational fires in proper fire pits and barbecues will still be allowed.
The Stage 1 burn ban comes a few weeks earlier than last year, when it took effect on July 1. The ban was in effect for roughly a month and a half before it was lifted on Sept. 14.
Residents who live within the Point Roberts, Lummi Island or Sandy Point fire districts should check with their respective department for outdoor burning restrictions.
