WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County’s housing market slowed sharply at the start of the year.
That’s according to a new report from Adrik Brashear, a broker with Bellingham‑based The Muljat Group.
Data from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service show fewer homes sold, and those that did took longer to find buyers.
Countywide, 411 homes sold in the first quarter, down more than 7% from a year ago, and the lowest first‑quarter total since before 2022.
Homes also sat longer on the market. The average sale took 82 days, nearly three weeks longer than last year.
Despite the slowdown, prices held steady, with the median home price edging up to $630,000.
Brashear says higher mortgage rates and global uncertainty likely caused some buyers to pause during the traditionally slow winter season.
