WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says that law enforcement agencies are making sure folks are moving over for emergency vehicles.
Extra patrols began on Tuesday morning and may continue throughout the day.
As a reminder, drivers should slow down and move over onto the shoulder or the closest lane to the shoulder when they see flashing lights behind them.
The law also applies when drivers are heading through construction areas or are passing tow trucks.
Failure to abide by the state’s “Move Over, Slow Down” law could result in fines or a reckless driving charge.
