WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County’s unemployment rate rose slightly towards the end of 2024.
The Washington State Employment Security Department reports that the county’s jobless rate was 4.6% in November 2024. That’s up from October’s revised rate of 4.3%, but exactly the same as it was in November 2023.
In total, 5,076 people were reported as unemployed in November, which is higher than October’s count by over 200 people.
Whatcom’s jobless rate was identical to the state’s and a touch higher than the national rate of 4.2%. December’s unemployment report will be released on Jan. 28.
