WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County saw its jobless rate tick up in July.

According to new data from the state Employment Security Department, Whatcom’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate jumped to four and a half percent in July.

That’s one percent higher than where it stood in June, but slightly lower than a year ago in July 2024.

Skagit County saw a similar trend, where its jobless rate saw a modest increase from June to July, but it was still lower than the same time last year.

Meanwhile, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stayed the exact same at four and a half percent in both instances.
