WHITMAN COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com, AP) – Hundreds of voters in eastern Washington have been left without mail-in ballots after a mix-up by the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Whitman County Auditor Sandy Jamison told the Associated Press that the USPS has not delivered up to 300 ballots in the community of Garfield.

The Coos County Clerk in Oregon adds that USPS also failed to deliver an unknown number of ballots to their community of about 50,000 active voters. Both states conduct elections by mail.

Jamison says Whitman County residents now have the option of having their replacement ballot mailed to them or picking it up at the auditor’s office.

Officials with the postal service have not yet responded to The Associated Press for comment.
