BELLINGHAM, WA. – (MyBellinghamNow.com) A Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect, but overnight freezing rain is causing issues across our region.
The National Weather Service in Seattle says mixed precipitation is forecast for Whatcom County today, Friday, January 19th, with a couple inches of snowfall possible in some areas.
Ice has collected in what forecasters call a “light glaze,” so drivers are asked to plan for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility.
Some county roads are still impassable with snow drifts that are too deep to drive through.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is again asking residents to stay off the roads if they can and to limit unnecessary travel.
The City of Bellingham announced that the warming center at 1013 W. Holly will be open again on Friday for extended hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
PSE is reporting spotty outages on Lummi Island and south of Bellingham.
