BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A woman was arrested after attempting to steal a stranger’s car with a knife.
Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says that the victim had just gotten into their car near Samish Way on the morning of Friday, Feb. 6.
The suspect, identified as a 37-year-old woman, approached them with a large knife and threatened to kill the victim if they didn’t exit their vehicle. While attempting to get the knife away from the suspect, the victim was cut in the hand before they were able to get away and call for help.
Investigators later learned that the suspect had broken into the victim’s apartment before the attack and had rummaged through their car afterwards.
She was arrested close to the crime scene and remains at the Whatcom County Jail on $200,000 bail.
