PULLMAN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Do you like apples? Well, now is your chance to help name one.
Washington State University’s newest apple needs a name, and they want you to chime in.
The apple, currently named WA 64, is a hybrid of the Honeycrisp and Pink Lady and is a great eating apple with a long shelf life. WSU apple breeding head Kate Evans says the new apple is balanced with a sweet and tart taste and describes it as firm, crisp and juicy.
The contest to name the apple is open to all U.S. residents aged 18 and older. WSU suggests names with some connection to the university or the state of Washington and will not accept names with profanity or references to illegal substances or activities.
