WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – It’s go time to improve pedestrian infrastructure in Whatcom County and the Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) wants to help.
The WTA says money from their 2025 Transit Access Fund will go to local and tribal governments for infrastructure projects within a quarter mile of a bus stop.
Eligible projects include sidewalks, ramps, pedestrian crossing signals, bicycle parking and more, all with the goal of improving access to bus stops around the county.
This year, the WTA has budgeted $150,000 for the fund. Any local, state or tribal governments that wish to apply for funding have until Feb. 1 to complete an application.
Head over to WTA’s website for more information and a link to apply.
