BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Changes to bus routes in Bellingham could be forthcoming.

The City of Bellingham’s Transportation Commission met on Tuesday night to hear a presentation from Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) about some changes to service in the city.

WTA proposes several route changes for lines that operate around the Sehome Hill Arboretum, Western Washington University and Fairhaven.

The changes proposed come as a way to combat service issues when the university is in session.

What the agency plans to do is simplify routes that service the university and add transfer spots so the buses can make more trips shuttling from the university.

Though the presentation happened last night, WTA’s Genevieve Carrillo says that rider feedback and the changes will be discussed by WTA in November.

Any approved changes will be implemented next summer.
