BELLINGHAM, WA. – (MyBellinghamNow.com) Western Washington University is extending its enrollment confirmation deadline for this fall.
The college announced on Monday the month-long extension to June 1 for incoming undergraduate students. The decision comes after ongoing processing delays with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The U.S. Department of Education recently announced that schools will not receive financial aid information from students’ FAFSAs until mid-March.
Western says the deadline extension should allow students and families more time to make a decision based on the financial aid offers they get from schools. According to the school, more than 83% of incoming students submit a FAFSA each year and depend on financial aid.
Western says they will continue to update students and families if more FAFSA delays occur.
