LONGWOOD, FL (MyBellinghamNow.com) -The 2024 season for the Vikings softball team continues at the NCAA DII Championship tournament, this time with a brutal 12-inning game in the central Florida heat.
The Vikings softball team battled the UIndy Greyhounds, beating them 2-1 in extra innings. Freshman Alli Kimball pitched 7.1 innings, dominating the mound to only allow four hits and one run. Kaiana Kong came in to pitch the final five innings and earned the win, allowing zero runs and only two hits.
Offense for both the Vikings and the Greyhounds was what seemed to be a never-ending battle, with both teams struggling to get on base. UIndy’s Kenzee Smith pitched for 12 innings and allowed only eight hits the entire game.
The Viking’s season comes down to their next game, where they will face-off against UIndy one more time for their chance to play in the NCAA DII Championship game.
