LONGWOOD, FL (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Western Washington University softball team lost 10-1 to UT Tyler in their second game of the 2024 NCAA Championship Tournament.
WWU was held down by UT Tyler pitcher Christin Haygood, allowing only three hits and one run for the Vikings. Joie Baker, the starting pitcher for WWU, earned the loss and allowed a total of five runs on three hits.
The Vikings, who currently have a season record of 49-10, move to the elimination game bracket and will play their next game on Tuesday, May 21 at 4:00 p.m. ET. Their opponent will be decided by the outcome of game seven (No. 1 Auburn Montgomery vs. No. 5 Charleston).
This is the sixth appearance for the WWU softball program at the NCAA Division II Softball Championships. The team currently has the most wins in program history with a record of 49-10, beating the 2011 program by 15 wins.
