Police are waiting to arrest the man once he is released from the hospital. He faces three felony charges.
The Bellingham Police Department says the victim reported the assault to police on Oct. 22.
The man remains in Whatcom County Jail on $20,000 bail.

The speeding driver was believed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
