The Ferndale School District has been among local leaders in its policy, which only allows high schoolers to use their devices during lunch break unless they’re told otherwise by a teacher.
Nearly 600 students are set to receive an average of $2,400 each. That’s around 80% of all students who applied.

Bellingham Technical College and Skagit Valley College were among the 12 schools that were chosen.

Randhawa says the moves, while difficult, will make the university sustainable in the long term while preserving key student services and academic quality.
Areas that would be most affected by the cuts include migrant and multilingual learner, mental health, homelessness and professional development programs.
