Forecasters have designated that much of western Washington is in a Moderate Drought as of March 4.

The earthquake was felt as far south as Seattle, and shaking was also reported in southern British Columbia.

Only four of Bellingham’s 12 sites are at the final stage of the eight-stage cleanup process. But that doesn’t mean the other sites are not far along in the process to remove toxic chemicals.

The ordinance prevents people from removing or damaging any healthy tree with a trunk diameter of 36″ or more.

The cleanup is expected to begin later this year and will take roughly three years for the entire site.

Over 3,500 acres have been purchased by the City of Bellingham since 2001 to protect the watershed as well as the wildlife and ecosystem around it.
