Rep. Dexter and Rep. Larsen wrote to the Department of Homeland Security over the weekend, demanding that the family be able to speak to an attorney or other legal counsel.

The federal government was supposed to award grants beginning July 1, but just a day before, the states received notice from the government that this funding was to be reviewed.
