Whatcom County saw better numbers than the state average, with 3.9% unemployment rate for this September, hovering at the same as last year’s.
The decision comes after voters approved a measure to expand the Port commission from three to five members.
This closure is in addition to the culvert failure on Hannegan between Bakerview and Van Wyck Roads.
Residents said they were worried about service disruptions, lack of stamp sales and even the possibility that the Post Office could close down.
The city is prioritizing culvert repairs on Hannegan and Woburn, as well as reopening Little Squalicum Pier.
Several roads will need near-total rebuilding.
The charging stations are expected to be ready by February 2026.
The Everson and Nooksack mayors said that though research has studied ways to protect the riverside communities for decades, more needs to be done to protect them.
Multiple roads in Whatcom and Skagit Counties remain closed due to flood conditions.
Residents should check their homes for water leaks, as pipes may have been damaged in the flood.
