BELLINGHAM, WA – Three Ferndale educators will be honored with the Golden Apple Educator Award next Sunday Nov. 5.
The honorees are Tim Kiegley, a special projects coordinator for the school district, Sharon Lawler, a para educator at the Eagleridge Elementary School library, and Amy Nylen, a language arts teacher at Vista Middle School.
The honorees were chosen for their work supporting reading and public libraries.
The awards ceremony will be held at 2:45 p.m. at the Ferndale Events Center, on 5715 Barrett Road in Ferndale.
The ceremony is part of the library system’s Open Book Festival, held from noon to 5 p.m.
WCLS started the Golden Apple Educator Award in 2007 to encourage and celebrate partnerships between schools and library staff that further student engagement with reading and library materials.
