WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The fire danger has receded a bit, and officials are relaxing some regulations.
The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is downgrading the Stage 2 Burn Ban for unincorporated Whatcom to a Stage 1 ban.
That means outdoor large fires are still banned including land clearing fires and burning yard debris. Recreational fires will now be allowed as of 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11.
The office is reminding people to keep fires small and away from flammable material with a water bucket nearby.
They add for people to still exercise caution when lighting campfires or grills.
Bellingham’s total burn ban is still in effect. Be sure to check your local municipality’s rules before starting any fires.
