ESPN’s Field Yates reports that a pair of New England Patriots assistant coaches are interviewing for defensive jobs with the Huskies, including Steve Belichick, son of legendary coach Bill.
There’s familiarity between the Patriots coaches and new Huskies coach Jedd Fisch, who spent the 2020 season on New England’s staff as well.
The Western Washington University women’s basketball team kept up their perfect season at home last night.
They beat Alaska Fairbanks 72-55 to extend their win streak to eight straight games.
The Vikings were led by 19 points from junior Riley Dykstra, a former standout guard at Lynden Christian.
Senior Brooke Walling added a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The 13th-nationally ranked Vikings remain 11-0 at Carver Gym this season and have won their last 15 dating back to last season.
They now improve to 17-3 and 9-1 in GNAC play.
Meanwhile, the men’s team fell just short of an upset win.
They fell to #7 Saint Martin’s 77-75 for their third straight loss.
The Vikings held a 10-point lead with just over 4 minutes remaining, but the Saints scored the last 12 points of the game, including a game-winning steal and layup to complete the comeback win.
Senior forward Jonathan Nedd led the team with 22 points and Kai Johnson added 18 in the loss.
The team has lost three consecutive games twice in the last month as they drop to 12-9 overall and 4-6 in GNAC play.

The Lynden boys had their 9-game win streak snapped by Mount Vernon in a tight 69-68 loss.
Lynden girls blew out Mount Vernon 73-23.
Ferndale boys beat Blaine 73-52.
Blaine girls edged Ferndale 47-43.
And both Mount Baker teams lost to Lakewood 71-55.
