FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A convicted sex offender living in Ferndale is back in custody following a Homeland Security investigation.

Court documents state the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip about the suspect in October. A search warrant was then granted to investigators to access the suspect’s electronics in November.

After examining the suspect’s items, over 800 child sex abuse files were found on those devices including over 300 computer-generated images and videos.

The suspect, 55-year-old Robert Stroup, was previously convicted of possessing child pornography in 2002 and has been registered as a sex offender for 30 years.

Stroup remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
