BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – After four games on the road, the Western Washington University Men’s basketball team returns to Carver Gym to compete against Seattle Pacific University.
Western finished their four-game road trip with a win against Western Oregon and hope to stay in the win column against SPU on Thursday. The men’s team has a record of 7-2 at home, adding confidence with the thought of home court advantage.
Overall, the Vikings sit in 7th place in GNAC rankings with a conference record of 5-6. Earlier this season, SPU beat WWU 89-74 in Seattle in their first matchup.
In recent news, junior guard Kai Johnson made local and national headlines by making it on the SportsCenter Top 10 with a self-pass and dunk against Western Oregon this week. Johnson is just five points shy from being the 28th player in WWU Men’s basketball history to break 1,000 all-time points.
Attendees of the Feb. 8 game at Carver Gym can expect a full house as WECU members can get in for free. WWU is also giving away free bobbleheads for the first 250 attendees as well as a raffle with prizes for current students.
